Logie Community

Picture
Art Exhibition with artist Lys Hansen.

There are several very active organisations concerned with the welfare and leisure activities of the Logie community. The most important of these are:

Logie Community Council

Summer Barbecue in the Village Centre.
A semi-political body of volunteer members who are elected every four years by the  Logie citizens. Its purpose is to sound the opinions of the Community so
that it  can advise the local government body – Stirling Council – and other
relevant  bodies, on measures that affect the Logie Community, and to administer limited  grant funding for local projects. It has recently completed the reinstatement of  footpaths through and in Blairlogie, and given support to a campaign against the  erection of new electricity pylons through Logie.

Blairlogie Community and Heritage Trust

The Trust is  a registered charity, and owns the key ground in the centre of the village  including the Village  Square, on behalf of the whole community. It  undertakes projects when needed and raises funds from event income and by grant  applications. It is in the form of a Company Limited by Guarantee, and, again,  it is run by a committee of unpaid members from the local community. It has  recently completed projects for the complete replacement of the main culvert  running underneath the Blairlogie  Village Square, the safety lopping of mature trees in  the village centre and constructing a stone retaining wall along the side of the main street.

The Reading and Recreation  Room Committee
The Reading  Room is the community’s “Village Hall”. It stands in the centre of Blairlogie,  and is in use for functions every week. The Committee is elected at the AGM  every year, and organises the social and educational programme of events for the  district such as the Annual Burns Supper, the weekly table tennis club, the  fortnightly bridge club, art exhibitions, lectures, wine tastings, quiz nights  and Summer barbecues. This is a busy and friendly community!

Logie Community  Archive  Project
Another voluntary team of local citizens – this time largely self-selected – who research and codify the historic and current events, the genealogical histories of the people of Logie, and the histories of the buildings. A social Archive.   It  is the Logie Archive Team that produced and maintains the Web-Site you are now  visiting. For more information about the project, click onto Archive Project on  your menu.

To contact any of the above organisations for information on purposes or forthcoming activities, please contact us by using the contact form on the
